Peace Buzz

Witnesses say it was an intergenerational, cross-cultural act of guerilla art, a communal statement of grief, an anti-war poetry performance, a creative ritual of political resistance.  All said it was moving.  Some described it as sacred.

Peace Buzz happened on April 27, 2003 at the Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Twenty artists and activists shaved their heads, each one after reading a poem or statement of conscience.

We, the participants, hope that by sharing visual and poetic glimpses of this unique ceremony of individual courage and collective outrage, we will inspire you to commit yourself – and re-commit yourself – to peace.

For future generations,
The Peace Buzz participants
