Working with Blends and Drop Shadows:
When using a horizontal or vertical blend, add a plain fill to your object. Make sure the plain fill is drawn before the blend fill. |

|
When using a radial or point blend, use two objects. Add the blend fill to one object, and the drop shadow effect to the other. Group them as a Group Scaleable (Command-G). |
