Step 6: Line up the tops of the two semicircles: |

Select both semicircles. Choose Format->Align and Size->Top Edges. |

Step 7: Reverse the path of the right semicircle: |
|
Select the semicircle on the right. Choose Object->Splines/Lines->Reverse Path. Now the start point should be on the bottom. |
|

Step 8: Add a point to the end of the right semicircle: |
|
Select the semicircle on the right. Select the top point. Choose Object->Splines/Lines->Add Point. Drag the new point to the left semicircle. |
